Virtual Assistant Hourly Rate of Pay: Finding Your Own Clients vs. Working For An Agency

When you hang out your shingle as a virtual assistant, chances are, you also joined several VA Facebook groups and began listening to VA podcasts, etc and were told that the standard rate of pay for a virtual assistant is $25-$50 an hour.

While this is an accurate statement when you are negotiating with a client directly and selling yourself and your skill set on the open marketplace, this is not the case when you decide to take on clients representing an agency.

As an independent contractor, you should be prepared to take on a mix of clients. Some clients you will find through your own advertising efforts, some you will find working with an agency and some you will find due to a partnership you have with others in the industry or referral from current clients, family and friends.
